Session:
Challange them with 30 seconds challanges that they will perform at a high tempo (eg right foot, left foot, both feet, sole of the foot, toe taps, turns and skills)
Diagram shows half inside and half out, this could be a variation, so once you have done your 30 second challange, swap with a player on the outside.

Similar set up (include gates)
– Have players pair up and pass amongst each other (Give kids freedom, let them play)
– After freedom introduce challanges (pass through as many gates as you can in a time limit)
– Keep challanges varied and always keep the tempo high!

Same square
– Split players into four teams of three players, and put them in a zone.
– Give each player a number, and tell the players to pass and move in their area (unopposed)
– When the coach shouts a number, have the player run clockwise into the next area to try and win the ball
– Very simply, first player to win the ball gets a point.
Progression to Small Sided Games (SSG)
Set Up
– Two teams in each half
– Number of balls with the coach ready to feed in
– Area size depends on number of players
(NOTE: Diagram didnt allow me to expand area so that is the reason theres no depth)
– Coach feeds the ball into either side
– Opposite team sends one player to close the ball down.
– Massive overload (6v1) to begin with which is unrealistic, however creates alot of success
Coaching Tips:
Coach team to make the area as big as possible
– More defenders come in, encourage attacking team to get between depends to link play
– If you have an odd amount of players, let him be “magic man” and play for both teams.

Set Up
– 1v1 in the final thirds, and a 4v4 in the middle area
– Vary area size (again diagram wouldnt allow me to expand)
– Give the players a lot of freedom
– Allow them to work out how to get it into their target
– Make sure you rotate the players roles
– Could add progressions such as make five passes then try and get to target man etc
Coaching Tips:
The target isnt static, he should be moving in relation to the balls position to help support his team (see red target)
– Remind players to always find new positions and dont be afraid to “start again”.

Set Up
– 4v4 inside the square
– Four neutral targets outside the area
– No goalkeepers
– When a team has the ball, essentially it is 8v4 if you include the targets.
– Set a condition of one touch finish
– Give players freedom
– Target men can be static/passive
– Progress to allow targets to switch the ball
Coaching Points:
– Remind players to create new spaces
– Use targets to keep possession
– Dont be afraid to start again
